Without You

Now you are gone,
I feel so lost and don't know which path to take.
I've felt that way many times before,
But you were always there to guide me,
To set my feet back on the right path,
How will I find that now?

Now you are gone,
I feel so old and don't know where youth has gone.
I've felt that way many times before,
But you were always there, older than me,
To remind me of what it is to be young,
How will I see that now?

Now you are gone,
I feel so ignorant and don't know or understand,
I've felt that way many times before,
But you were always there to explain to me,
To impart the wisdom of your years.
How will I share that now?

Now you are gone,
I may feel older but I don't feel any wiser,
I've become the older generation,
My children will look to me to light their paths,
But I was learning and still don't have your wisdom.
How will I gain that now?

Now you are gone,
I feel so immature and don't know what to do,
I've felt that way many times before,
But you were always there with parental advice for me,
To be the grown up, so I didn't have to be.
Guess I need to grow up now.
